SHIRASAKI SUNSET, 2016
Acrylic on canvas, 3″x9″
Not for sale
This was painted from a photograph I took overlooking Wakayama’s famous seaside white limestone cliffs: Shirasaki. Although the low lighting and shadows in this painting make it impossible to see, the cliffs are chalk-white in daylight. These formations have inspired Japanese artists and poets for centuries, and I must say they haven’t lost their touch.
