These sketches were done based on live observation of specimens. The exotic species were observed at the Franklin Park Conservatory’s annual butterfly show. The native species were observed locally, sometimes with the aide of a stereoscopic microscope for extreme closeups.

The larva and pupa of moths and butterflies have long been a fascination of mine. Their variety is as endless and beautiful as the adult moths and butterflies.
